A Message from Pastor Dianne
To the People of God at Harwich UMC,
As I write this message, I am fast forwarding thru the last 10 days before Thanksgiving, and I am living into the beginning of Advent 2020 on November 29th. Last night I participated in an Advent Bible Study with members of the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church, and you are welcome to do the same on the remaining Sunday evenings: Nov 22, Dec 6 and Dec 13 at 7pm. [Posted on the neumc.org website and below in this newsletter] I will be in Fellowship Hall on Monday mornings at 9:30 to share the same material with any persons who, lacking technology, wish to participate in this Advent experience: November 23rd, 30th, December 7th and 14th. Please bring a mask and join me!
Advent allows us to prepare for the arrival of God in the person of Jesus Christ: completely human and completely divine. A baby with a mission. An answer to our laments and an example for our ultimate relationship with our Creator God.
The arrival of a child is reason for preparation and excitement! A Divine child is coming to the world over and over again as the birth happens in the hearts of individuals and nations. We celebrate the saga of Jesus’ earthly and historic arrival in the flesh to renew our commitment to the living Lord. It is not history but a happening; we can be part of declaring the Christ is breaking into the world over and over again. Testifying to the joy Jesus brings into our lives is a largely ignored discipline in this age.
Join with your Christian brothers and sisters in proclaiming Good News,
“God so loved the world that God sent the only Son
so that the world, through Him, might be saved.”
Yours in the love of Christ Jesus,
